Getting There - Traffic Tips
Our population boom and widespread infrastructure projects and construction can make getting around Calgary by car a bit difficult at times. Fortunately, there are a few online tools to help you avoid trouble spots and delays. The City of Calgary Traffic Website has links to all the traffic cameras throughout the city and a list of traffic advisories (accidents and construction). A relatively new site, CalgaryTraffic.com has this same information presented on a clickable map as well as a free subscription service that will send alerts to your cell phone by text message or email if there is an accident on your route. I’ve been using this service for about a week and a half and it has already helped me avoid a few delays. It’s a great tool that I’d highly recommend for anyone who has to drive on a regular basis. If you’re able to avoid driving entirely, Calgary Transit has a great online resource complete with a route planner. Remember, if you’re a regular transit user you could also be eligable for a tax credit.
